About The Artist
Dimitar Kondovski (1927–1993) was a Macedonian painter, illustrator, and professor considered a cornerstone of post-war Macedonian fine art. He is best known for his highly structured geometric phase, which synthesized modern abstraction with the rich tradition of medieval Macedonian art. He often employed tempera and gold leaf to create works resembling modern icons. A member of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MANU), he was a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts and a recipient of numerous awards, including the October Award (1964).
