About The Artist
Gorjan Gjorgjiev (born 1965 in Skopje) is a Macedonian academic painter. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje (Painting Department) in 1987 and has been a member of the Association of Artists of Macedonia (DLUM) since 1988.
His works are deeply intimate and focus on motifs such as the human and animal figure (often mythological bulls), presented in massive form. Gjorgjiev uses intensive coloration and controlled contour to create complex compositions that combine influences from the Byzantine code, naive art, surrealism, and neo-expressionism. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally.
