Ivan Velkov (Vranje, 1930 – Skopje, 2008). Macedonian painter and university professor, who is especially important for the development of the Macedonian painting during the 60s. Graduated in 1953 and in 1955 got the post-graduate degree from the Art Academy in Belgrade. In 1960 went in Paris on a specialization trip. Was a professor at the Faculty of Architecture in Skopje, Macedonia and a member of the art group Mugri (Dew).
He has individually (from 1955) or with others, in Skopje and other places through former Yugoslavia. Has many group exhibitions, among them in: Mexico City, Dijon, Rijeka, Rome, Torino, Nurnberg, Stuttgart, Belgrade, Ferrara, Bolzano and others.
His opus varies in the frames of figuration, informel and geometric abstraction.
