Димитар Пандилов

Dimitar Pandilov, Macedonian academic art painter. He was born in the village of Tresonce, near Gostivar, in 1898.

Just before the start of the WWI he graduated from the Art Academy in Sofia. His exhibition in Skopje was the first presentation ever of Macedonian artist in Macedonia. From 1928 to 1943 he lived in the village of Hajredin in Bulgaria, working as an art teacher. He also had three self standing exhibitions (in 1930, 1934 and 1937).

After the liberation he became a teacher at the Skopje high school “Josip Broz Tito”, he is one of the founders of DLUM, author of many independent exhibitions. As an artist and pedagogue he made a considerable contribution in the formation of many generations of young artists.

His more renown paintings include: “Harvest”, “Female Harvesters”, “Threshers”, “Cutting of the Poppies”, “Brides at the Water Fountain”. He died in the catastrophic earthquake in Skopje in 1963.
